Dine With a View: Rooftop Restaurants and Bars in Singapore

Updated: December 2019

Dining with a view – is there anything better? There’s a certain sophistication about dining at restaurants perched on the top of huge skyscrapers or sipping cocktails on a rooftop bar. That’s not to mention the cool breeze afforded by the lofty heights.

Vertical housing and buildings have done a great job of mitigating the problems of Singapore being the world’s third most densely populated nation. An added benefit is the huge range of ubercool rooftop bars and restaurants found on top of many of these buildings.

Singapore’s rooftop restaurants can mix it with the city’s best. Additionally, some of the city’s most creative cocktail bars are all found high above the ground on its rooftops. Oh, and don’t forget the views!

Take a seat and enjoy the view!

The Best Rooftop Bars & Restaurants in Singapore

SKAI Restaurant and Bar

Head up to the 70th floor of Singapore’s tallest building, the Swissôtel The Stamford, and you’ll find SKAI Restaurant and Bar. The view of the city from its downtown location is breathtaking, while the minimal Scandi-inspired interior is also easy on the eyes.

Foodwise, you’ll find prime cuts of meat and fish served sharing style that are perfect for groups. Afterwards, head straight to SKAI Bar and diving into their bespoke cocktail menu. You’ll find the same panoramic views while you sip on cocktails inspired by mother nature with an organic element added to each drink.

Southbridge

If slurping oysters and sipping champagne while enjoying epic views of the Parliament House and Singapore river sounds like your idea of fun, then head straight to Southbridge for after-work snacks and drinks. The fifth-floor rooftop restaurant in Boat Quay offers panoramic views and is no secret. That means it fills up quickly, so head down there early or book a table to join in the fun.

Mr Stork

Sitting pretty on the Andaz Singapore Hotel, spots at Mr Stork are coveted as it only accepts walk ins. While Mr Stork is far from a secret, it stands out on our list as offering plenty of space and also quiet. That’s because it is simply massive! Wander through what is best described as a rooftop garden and find a spot – the teepee day-beds are a great choice if on a date – while enjoying a cocktail inspired by the garden vibe. If you’re looking for a rooftop setting with a more relaxed vibe, then Mr Stork it is.

Head there at nighttime to see the city in all its luminous glory for a truly memorable experience.

Stellar Restaurant at 1-Altitude

Sitting 63 levels up from the ground, it’s no surprise that Stellar Restaurant at 1-Altitude is a restaurant with a sublime view. It also happens to be one of our top picks for Valentine's Day restaurants. Executive chef Christopher Millar offers up one of the best Australian menus in Raffles Place. The lunch and dinner menus offer a vast variety of dishes, with the finest ingredients sourced from artisan producers. A three-course menu comes in at $93, plus $48 with wine pairing.

Lavo Italian Restaurant & Bar

A new-comer to Singapore’s rooftop dining scene, Lavo offers 180-degree views and probably the best Italian-American food to be found at this height in the world. The restaurant inside has a New York industrial-chic vibe, with exposed brick walls setting the tone. The star attraction is the Lavo meatball – a wagyu beef and Italian sausage meatball served with whipped ricotta. On weekends, the place turns party mode on, with a DJ transforming Lavo into a club on Saturday nights.

Head chef Emanuele Faggi adds a unique twist to Italian fine-dining at Zafferano. Sitting on the 43rd floor of the Ocean Financial Centre, the stunning restaurant revolves around a circular bar. The window seats offer views over the Marina Bay waterfront, but for the most impressive views, head outside to the lounge. Once there, order a cocktail and some snacks for some seriously impressive lofty al fresco dining.

Orgo Bar & Restaurant

While not the highest restaurant on our list, Orgo still ticks all the boxes. There’s great food, exotic cocktails, a stunning location and impressive views from its location on top of the Theaters on the Bay complex. The architects designed Orgo with eco-sustainability in mind, which makes for a minimal and attractive setting. The fusion menu combines French and Asian cuisines to create modern dishes. The cocktails enjoyed at the bar incorporate organic chemistry components and are some of the best in Singapore. All this, combined with an upscale yet relaxed vibe, makes Orgo a hit with many different crowds.
